Plugin FlogMaker for Wordpress

That is the version 1.0.1 of the first full flash template for Wordpress !
FLOG MAKER is an entirely self-contained alternative flash blog system that resides within WordPress plugin, designed for absolutely seamless integration with your WordPress installation.
Among its features are:

- Full integration with WordPress’ own user system
- Search capabilities
- Calendar capabilities
- Contact capabilities
- Totally customisable
- Clean uninstall if you don’t like it :)
- Multiple flash blog setup

The lowest specs Flog Maker has been tested on so far PHP 4.4.4, MySQL 4.0, Apache 1.3.33 and WordPress 2.0.3.
1. Install
- Upload the wp-content/plugins/flog-maker/ directory to your WordPress folder (note: upload the DIRECTORY itself, not just the files)
- Upload the /wp-flashblog/ directory to your WordPress plugins folder (note: upload the DIRECTORY itself, not just the files)
- Activate the plugin
- Be sure your url settings in the managment console is ok
- You’re done!
You’ll find a new top-level menu option in your site admin, labelled “FlashBlog”. From here you can set up your configuration variables, and be ready to run in seconds.
To see the result, go to yourURL/wp-flashblog/
Warning:
Don’t edit the wp-flashblog directory name, other wises this can create bugs.

This new release is specially for wpmu users, who can’t install flog-maker before this release :).

19/03/07 22:10 Package FlogMaker 0.1.0Desactivate the plugin, remove the flog-maker directory and replace it entirely with the new one. Reactivate the plugin afterwards.
4. Uninstalling
If you don’t like FlogMaker and want to remove it permanently, there is a clean uninstall option that will remove all data that were created when you has installed. Simply go to FlahBlog > Advanced > Uninstall and follow the prompts. It’ll be out of your hair in no time.

6. Warnings
Css is not well interpreted in flash textfields. only few attributs are allowed (see the documentation), and that is why this plugin is absolutely not compatible with plugins like “syntaxHighlighter».
You can add pictures but no movies.
Css and Flog Maker compatibilities
Rare are css tags which are interpreted by Flash. Don’t hope to use div or tables, they are not interpreted and can make bugs and break page layout.
Texts styles are defined manually in the file : wp-flashblog/css/style.css. You can edit attributes and values, colors, fonts, sizes …
These tags are mapped to the content with a replacement function of the following tags. If you do not use these tags, your text styles will be not visible in FlashBlog.
So try to use at the maximum these tags in your content to have a nice and various article:
- <strong></strong>
- <a href=”" target=”" title=”"></a>
- <h1></h1>
- <h2></h2>
- <h3></h3>
- <li></li>
- <img src=”/84095907_0af4994686.jpg” alt=”un arbre ” name=”image109″ hspace=”20″ vspace=”20″ align=”absmiddle” id=”image109″ />
- <i></i>
- <br />
For the moment, flog maker allow only simple html contents, but i am working on insertion of medias like movies or swf files, and on a picture galery.

This is extremely cool. The problem is that it doesn’t seem to work on my blog!

The flash loads up fine, but everything shows up as undefined.
You have an SQl error on your flashblog homepage, I think the probleme come from your database prefixes table name. I look for this tonight and i will told you what the bug. I think I forget a variable.
I got 500 Internal Server Error when go to my http://domain/wp-flashblog/
But in Diagnostics it said everything is OK. How do I fix this?

au8ust : I think you don’t copy the wp-flashblog directory on the good place. It must be at the same level than wp-admin for exemple.

Do you have it in English? Also most os my pictuires will not show, but it could be that I did not configure it right, it was not in English for me to set the parameters.

Seems like an awesome plugin… I’m having problems making it work though… I’ve uploaded the flog-maker folder to my root, as it’s there my wordpress installation is. And I’ve uploaded the wp-flashblog folder to my wp-content/plugins/ directory, but it doesn’t show up in the list of plugins in my admin panel. Hope you can help me out.. :)
ok, never mind the previous post, I realized what the mistake was… now I have another problem. I’ve got the plugin upgraded to 0.1.1, and reactivated it. Now, I want to change the language to english, so i’ve uploaded the english language files to the language directory in the flog-maker directory. I’ve deleted the french language files, but there’s no change… by the way, when I go to http://gnrlove.vistalive.org/wp-flashblog/ , I only see a black screen… :(

For the english version :
I make a mistake in the name of traduction file.
If you want it run, go to wp-content/plugin/flog-maker/langages/ and rename the flogmaker_en_EN.mo to flog-maker-en_EN.mo
I’ve change this bugs in the download package, but if you don’t want to reinstall it, you have just to change the name of the file.

i’m very interested in trying out your plug-in, however, i don’t speak french so i downloaded the english localization files and uploaded them to the flogmaker/languages directory, but i can’t figure out how to activate the english ui…
even after removing the french .po and .mo files the ui still appears in french…
any suggestions?

In your wp-config file, at the root of your wordpress folder, wplanguage must be define as “define (’WPLANG’, ‘en_EN’);”
Can you verify this variable?

This probleme is just that flashblog doesn’t find the wp-config file of worpress.
Can you check if this file exists, and try to change the first line of the wp-flashblog/index.php to put the rigth path to get wp-config.php
Tell me if it is not work.
And can you tell me what version of wordpress do you have?
I’ve tried changing the first line of the wp-flashblog/index.php and still nothing worked. I changed it to the following path where my ‘wp-config.php’ file was located which is ‘http://***/blog/****.php’.
Also, I’m using version 2.2.1 of wordpress.
I’ve verified the wp-config.php file does exist in my ‘blog’
folder.
I still receive the following error:

I have update source files on the blog.

It is telling me I don’t have the latest version of flash on one computer (I do, 9.0.115.0) and on the other it just brings up a page with the background and no content.

its a fantastic plugin when i see the demo. i followed all the instructions and activated.
all i see on the screen is XML loading.

the diagnostics shows everything is ok.
i managed to get it working, apparently it was an issue with the permissions and the site XML file was not being updated.
Another thing that boggles me now is that, i can only view 5 random posts from my blog when actually there are over 400 posts on the blog?
i found the problem. in the wp-flashblog/PHP/contenu.php,
line 38:
SELECT t1.ID, post_title, t1.post_name AS post_name, DATE_FORMAT(post_date,’%d-%m-%Y’) AS post_date,post_date as post_date_full, t2.user_nicename AS pseudo, t2.user_email AS user_email, t2.user_url AS user_url, post_content FROM {$table_prefix}posts AS t1 JOIN {$table_prefix}users AS t2 ON t1.post_author = t2.ID WHERE t1.post_status=’publish’ AND t1.post_type=’post’ ORDER BY t1.ID DESC LIMIT 0, 20
I changed the order by from date to ID because the dateformats are different to your initial design so its better to sort by ID rather then date. Second thing i changed was the limit, you limit it to 5 records per page, i increased that to 20.
Now am working on the comments part as it doesnt seem to be posting comments. will keep you updated.
